International Marketing

International overnight visitors equate to 25,000 pax per year, 83% of which are holiday makers and 15% are visiting friends or relatives. These figures are reflective of the high proportion of working holiday makers and backpackers in this market at present.

Tropical Tablelands Tourism undertakes a number of marketing strategies targeting the international visitor. These strategies leverage from the work rolled out by the region’s tourism organisation Tourism Tropical North Queensland (TTNQ). TTNQ’s role is to position the region of Tropical North Queensland as an attractive destination to international visitors. Tropical Tablelands Tourism’s role is to position the Atherton Tablelands region as a must-do holiday destination when visiting Tropical North Queensland. Without effective international marketing being undertaken by Tropical Tablelands Tourism, the region is not visible to the international market and therefore not showcased to inbound tour operators, packages and brochure exposure.
